Why do people commit auto theft?

Even though we will never know why people commit Auto Theft crime there is a theory that can explain all crime, we can certainly find a perspective that can explain specific forms of crime. Some do it for a joy ride and the rush, others do it to cut them up and sell parts, while others try to "resell" them for some quick cash. However, it can and often times is more serious than these. They may steal it to get away from the authorities, they may take it to turn it into a rigged vehicle for transporting drugs or other illegal things, they could also use it for terrorist activities. They may take one car drive a while then ditch it and take another one in the hopes that they will be harder to catch. Some gangs do it as an initiation. The main fact is that it is a felony no matter what the reason is and carries with it some serious trouble and lasting consequences beyond just fines and jail time, it can cost you future jobs, car loans, trustworthiness among friends and family and co-workers too.
